AI Transparency
Thrensea has never used generative AI, and never will. AI is not a tool of creativity. It should never be used in an attempt to replace artists, writers, or performers.
At the same time, in this day and age, it isn't realistic to claim total avoidance of AI. A single search on Google runs AI-powered systems in the background. Searching for something online already means using AI in some form, whether it's noticed or not.
What we don't use AI for
It is used nowhere in the following, at any stage:
- Pre-production and conception, including brainstorming mechanics, systems, and world premises
- Narrative and worldbuilding, including lore drafting, dialogue drafting and iteration, quests, NPCs, places, and items
- 2D art, including concept art and mood exploration, website or game icons, environment and background art, and storyboards
- 3D art, including text-to-3D and image-to-3D, blockouts, texture or material generation, procedural environment generation, animation, cleanup, and motion capture
- Audio, including music composition, SFX generation, voice generation, and mixing and mastering
- Engineering, including code generation, infrastructure and ops generation, and test generation and CI/CD tooling
- Systems design and balance, including AI or bot-driven playtesting, procedural loot or stat table generation, and difficulty tuning
- QA, including exploratory bug hunting and automated test generation
- Marketing and community, including copywriting, site and social page text, trailer edits, and community moderation
- Business and company operations, including legal work and financial modeling
- Post-launch and live ops, including patch notes, anti-cheat, and community tracking
Where AI does help
Any AI we do use is always assistive, never generative. It only ever touches a small, specific set of tasks:
- Market research and data analysis
- Text and copy verification, for typos and consistency
- Code documentation
- General day-to-day operations, such as summarizing todos and events
The one exception
We run our own self-hosted, self-trained AI agent for a narrow slice of NPC dialogue. Its output is pre-generated from each character's own sheet, their history and personality, and only replaces generic filler lines, things like greetings and farewells, for minor side characters such as merchants and bankers.
It is never used for story elements, and never for any NPC that hands out a quest. The only goal is to stop dozens of similar NPCs from repeating the exact same lines on loop, so the world feels a little more alive.
Your data
Nothing personal ever reaches AI. That includes your account details, anything tied to your characters, and any chat or mail you send in-game. The systems described above never see it, and never will.
